Syed Qutb came to the US as a student, was horrified by the culture and returned to his native Egypt where he wrote In the Shade of the Quran, a sophisticated commentary on the Quran. His blueprint for living an Islamic life inspired El Qaeda and the rest is history. My story explores the challenges a divorced Muslim woman faces as she tries to cope with her cheating ex-husband in a land she doesn't understand.
